7 Exercises to Avoid After an Orthopaedic Surgery

                             



After orthopedic surgery, your body will be uncomfortable and will not feel like moving. It takes time for the body to adapt and possibly prolonged movement can hinder the healing process and cause further discomfort and pain. Do not stop its proper healing of desire and give your body time to recover and sooner or later you will be back in action again.  


About a week after surgery, you can start doing some light exercises like walking, stretching and night light. Keep everything in terms of comfort and do not push your body too. There are some exercises that you have to avoid after an orthopedic surgery.

Rushing


Running is a high impact, repetitive exercise that carries a high risk of injury and damage to the surgery area. Due to its high impact resistance, a small problem greatly increase the risk of pain and injury.


Cycling


While cycling is a low impact exercise that is safe and gentle on the joints of the knee, you should always avoid after orthopedic surgery. Cycling is an aerobic exercise that increases blood pressure, which can cause bleeding wounds again.


Weight Training


Although the temptation to lift weights is underway, it is after orthopedic surgery should be avoided because of the stress and tension that can cause not only muscle groups for, but also to the environment.


Aerobics


Aerobic exercise will raise your blood pressure and cause bleeding wounds. It also involves repetitive motion and stress on the muscles and surrounding tissue will increase, causing discomfort and pain.


Crunches


Crunches should be avoided after the surgery, as this will make a huge pressure to the body, causing stitches tear and slow the healing process.


Swimming


Pool after surgery should be avoided until the wound and incisions have healed. The wound can become infected when in contact with water from the water and the pool is full of chlorine irritates the wound too.


To go upstairs

 
Stair climbing is a strenuous activity that requires the heart, legs and lungs work together to support your back.


To reduce discomfort to a tolerable level, any activity that induce tension and stress should be avoided in the early stages of recovery. Take your time as you have plenty of time to recover what was lost.
